Couple Asked City For Light, Told No

A reader tells us:

My husband and I had the same reaction to the [City Hall] flyer as you: what a waste of money and what a bunch of lies. Besides, we've been trying to get a street light on our dark street for more than a year. There have been several car thefts/breakins in that spot. But the City told us there is no money in the budget for at least two more years.

The City has growing revenue but tells people who need service, there is no money in the budget. Implied: vote another tax on yourself, and we might get around to you. It's remarkably similar to extortion.
