Useless Button Tries to Polish Measure Y Image

Oakland city government actually spent money producing these buttons. We cannot imagine who would wear one nor for what purpose. After three years we still have fewer police than when Measure Y was written. As for violence prevention, the mayor's outreach proposal antagonized even the Measure Y oversight committee. City Hall's response: polish the image with a useless button. We asked about the cost, and City officials told us they had 1,000 buttons made for $524. Did they really think they could urge 1,000 people to wear this badge of shame?
