Palace Campaigners List False Endorsement

The campaigners for Measure N, the $148 million bond issue for a palace library at Kaiser Center, falsely listed a councilmember among their endorsers. As late as Sept. 13, 2006, their website claimed Ignacio De La Fuente among the endorsers.

BEFORE

Now the palace library website omits De La Fuente from the list of endorsers.

AFTER

Council president De La Fuente's name does not get onto an endorsement list by mistake. He voted against putting Measure N on the ballot; his current position is neutral. Surely council colleague Quan, who is the chief campaigner for the palace library, knows she does not have De La Fuente's support.

Perhaps the Yes on N campaign figured they could list De La Fuente and he would go along. However, things did not happen that way. Instead, Quan and company revised the list on their website less than two days after a member of ORPN began raising questions at City Hall about the false endorsement claim.

We trust the printed literature for Yes on N will not claim false endorsements.
